With the number people moving to the Aurora/Newmarket area, resale and new condos are in tight supply. This region was vastly underdeveloped in the past few decades but now has been opened up for significant residential development.
However, the government’s green space legislation and the congested commute should slow demand for homes here. The properties that have been developed lately are typically $700,000 and up in price. You can still find a condo here in the $300s.
Newmarket and Aurora Real Estate
Newmarket and Aurora are special places to call home. The quality of life here is excellent. These are ultra-safe communities that are within commuting distance of metro Toronto. As a new resident, you’re going to enjoy excellent parkland, superb golf courses, amazing mountain and walking/biking paths. And close by is Lake Simcoe for boating/kayaking and Lake Wilcox for kayaking. There are plenty of local hockey arenas and sports fields. The Upper Canada Mall serves the whole northern end of York Region.
This area is slated for growth and the price of homes will likely continue to rise as Ontario’s economy comes back to life. The Go Train has stations in Aurora and in Newmarket for commuting to downtown Toronto.
Slessor Square is the largest condo development of late in Newmarket. It will be located across the street from the Upper Canada Mall. This condominium development will have 3 phases: 1) an 8-storey Retirement Residence of about 223 suites, 2) a 21-storey residential tower with about 182 apartment units, 3) and a 19-storey residential tower with about 186 apartment units.
York Region Condo Prices 2016
As you can see in the TREB statistics below, there aren’t a lot of condos for sale in this area. Detached , houses and townhouse condos dominate.
